LISTERINE

Posted by dawn On December - 13 - 2009

Just a mouth wash. Most, including myself would think. But think again. I read this article in The Edge, Haven. Apparently, Listerine can be used to do so many other things, it’s amazing. I will list the common useful ones here:

As a disinfectant

You can mix equal amounts of listerine and water in a spray bottle and it’s good to go. Now you can have cost effective handy germ killing solution to wipe commonly shared surfaces such as telephone receivers, keyboards, mouse, etc. However, it is not suitable for wooden surfaces UNLESS it is alcohol free.

As a deodorant

If your deodorant is finished and you are rushing out, a bottle of Listerine may just help. Spray on the surface area, leave for ten minutes then dry off the solution with a dry cloth. Additionally, a capful of Listerine added to your load of dirty laundry in the washing machine ensures fresh smelling clothes! I’m so gonna try that.

*OK why am i sharing this? Listerine should give me some commission for any increase in sales :p*

To clean toothbrushes

Most of us who are paranoid of germs often brush, floss and gargle to maintain our oral hygiene. But how many of us wash our toothbrushes? According to the article, toothbrushes are fertile grounds for bacteria which not only survives BUT multiply in the damp pockets between the bristles! yucks.

Well, here is how the suggest we clean our toothbrushes. So simple and easy. Must make sure I do it once a month at least. Mix 2 teaspoons of Listerine with 1 teaspoon of water and soak for a minute. That’s it!

As a repellant

The one thing created that I hate most. MOSQUITOES. By simply rubbing some Listerine on your skin before heading outdoors keeps them away! :) (it was mentioned that Original Listerine works the best for this point. I don’t really understand. Maybe it’s original flavour or do they have pirated Listerine??? :p)

On another note, I read somewhere a while ago that these annoying creatures are attracted to blue colours. So if you are planning to go outdoors, maybe, contrary to popular believe, black is a better choice.

Hope you find these tips useful! =)
