Are you kidding me?

Posted by dawn On September - 28 - 20097 COMMENTS

This morning as I was driving off to ‘work’ and listening to the radio, this DJ was calling a ticketing counter at approximately 10.55 am to check on the number of tickets left for a show or some performance.

DJ: Hello

Lady: Hello

DJ: I would like to check the most cheapest ticket. How many are there left?

MOST CHEAPEST???

ON NA-TIOOOO-NAAaaaL RADIO???

oH COME ON WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT.

OK I know it could be human error or whatever but MOST CHEAPEST? Seriously?

Might as well call it Hani Madu on Fly fm LAdio. Or is it LaLio? –___-

Was listening to hitz.fm the other day and there was this conversation of a caller with the DJ.

DJ: What is the currency of Malaysia’s money?

Caller: Ringgit

DJ: Congratulations! That’s RM 1000 for you! OK next question, what is kangkung called in english?

Caller: eR…Ve-gee-ta-ble

HAHAHA! I found it funny! :p

But seriously, what’s kangkung in english? haha!

I’d probably answer kang-kung (where kang rhymes with DANGling and kung goes like…kooooung) –___-

OK. Yes I’m lame. Over and out!

Best Pan Mee

Posted by dawn On September - 21 - 20097 COMMENTS

Last Sunday after the 10.30 am mass at St. Johns, we decided to head to our favourite Pan Mee place. Pan mee, pan mian, min fun char kor, min fun kuey or whatever you call it. This place in Sri Kembangan has the best pan mee after my grandma’s.

Instead of the usual pork meat with egg and anchovies, this place you can op for no meat version which we always order. Just prawns, veg and anchovies. mmm…nice. Besides that, they also have the best ‘kat chai shuen mui’, lime with juice with preserved plum.

It’s so good that I only remember to take this pic after finishing half of it as soon as it arrived. :p

I like it because the dough is soft and not too thick, soup is just nice and of course their chili sauce is amazing. And of course the prawns are fresh too. I don’t really like to eat chicken or pork meat in soup outside coz they can taste pretty weird to me. Like it’s not fresh.

And that is also how I eat it with the chili and anchovies on the side.

THIS is how the boyfriend eats it.

Notice the soup is extra red?j

Coz, in addition to the normal serving of chili and anchovies, he asked for extra and mixed it all in the soup (his version of chili pan mee)

The extra chili is like 5 times what they give for the normal. So for those of you who crazy about chili, this is how you eat it :)

If you wanna go there, it’s pretty complicated if you are not from there. So just call me and bring me along ;)

Life

Life, is what you make of it.

Just a sentence made out of few words but its meaning so strong, it makes one stop to think.

Sometimes it’s easy to loose track of what you want your life to be. What you want to make of it. Sometimes in the midst of so many expectations, you just want to give up and let others make your life (or use your life) the way they want to. Sometimes it seem easier to give in and live the life others expect of you.

BUT, you ask

Will I be happy? Will I regret? Will I die living the life I want?

What if the answer is NO? What if I regret? Then who can I blame? For not taking a chance? For not facing the struggles? For giving up?

I can only blame myself. Because indeed, life is what you make of it.

I am responsible for my life and no matter how hard I want to live by it. I want to live the life of my dreams. You may say I’m naive, but I still believe that dreams do come true. I want my mind to speak and my actions, to inspire.

I want to believe I can make it happen AND so can you.

I’m blessed to have supportive people around me. Though I am also blessed to have those who do not support my actions (for I know it’s because they care).

But I just have to thank those who are by my side (you know who you are). Knowing you’ll be there regardless and never saying told you so is something I cherish with all my heart.

Step by step, walk towards the life you want. For, “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

When you have just a little faith, problems would just be specks of dust.

FIGHT the good fight, FINISH the race, KEEP the FAITH.

You are not alone

Posted by dawn On September - 11 - 20094 COMMENTS

Met Sue Lin two days back at Old Town Coffee House. It’s like back in Uni days sitting and studying at the foyer together. Just like those times we studied different subjects together. This time the slight difference is hers is in English and mine in Mandarin (coz I’m learning to read Mandarin –____-) haha.

Chatting with her makes me realize that I’m not alone. In so many ways, in so many aspects, we both face the same things. We all face multiple crossroads at different points of our lives. And considering the roads to take, sometimes is easy but many times, it takes lots of thinking. And deciding on which to take takes lots of courage. The process of it…could be pretty confusing when people want to tell you what they think is best. You feel me? haha! (I learnt that from prison break) Of course I believe most of the time, people just have my best interest at heart but…it could just add to the headache or even heartache of the process.

Sometimes, we ALL feel alone. Sometimes we think it can’t be done. We are lost and can’t go on. Sometimes afraid, afraid to make that very important choice, that very decision.

You feel alone, you feel as though no one understands, you feel like you can’t go on, you feel like you wanna give in to what others want or expect of you…

But then an angel appears…An angel sent to you from heaven. No. It does not have wings. No. It’s not naked. It does not have bright light above its head. It comes as a friend, it comes as a stranger. It comes not in your sleep. It comes at any time, shine or rain. Sometimes just the way you see it. Sometimes like a blessing in disguise.

So if ever feel alone. Abandoned. Misunderstood. Sad. Down. Non-existent and

YOU SAY: "It’s impossible"
God says: "All things are possible" (Luke 18:27)
Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."

IF YOU say: "I can’t go on"
God says: "I will direct your steps" (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

IF YOU say: "I can’t do it"
God says: "You can do all things" (Philippians 4:13)
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.

WHEN You say: "I’m afraid"
God says: "I have not given you a spirit of fear" (Timothy 1:7)
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

AND WHEN You say: "I feel all alone"
God says: "I will never leave you or forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5)
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you"

Yes. No matter how alone you feel, the fact is you are not.

Have a great weekend!
