up Up and AWAY!

Posted by dawn On August - 27 - 20092 COMMENTS

Decided to watch UP when Doyle (Damian’s brother) and Samantha (his girlfriend) said it was good. So Damian checked Rotten Tomatoes and true enough they gave it over 90% (for their standard, that’s alot). So, I decided to bring my brother along since it’s the school holidays.

I love the movie. The balloons are so colourful! I love the flying house!!!

Can I have a FLYING house too???

How many balloons do I need to carry my house???

MMmmm…But then I won’t have food…I want a flying shopping centre! –__-

OK enough of craps. It’s a good movie. All three of us enjoyed it alot. It’s heartwarming movie about an old man loosing interest with his ‘adventures’ in life until he met a little boy.

This super enthusiastic boy brought back meaning to the old man’s life and the attention and care of the old man brought warmth to the little boy in return. This meeting of two, so suddenly, so coincidentally, came about to enriched both their lives. Where both achieved their goals in a very special way.

This movie is full of love. Full of meaning. Full of laughter.

Truly a family movie! Definitely the right choice to screen in cinemas this school break =)

24th July 2009

May be just another day for many, but a very special day for me :) Was thinking way before what to get as a gift. For this special occasion. How to celebrate? Where to eat?

No, it’s not an anniversary. No,  it’s not a new born. No it’s not a wedding.

It IS:

Yes, my dad’s birthday.

It’s not really the birthday we are celebrating. I think it’s more of the birth DAY. Celebrating my dad being here and bringing me here. At least to me. haha. OK, do you know what I’m saying?

What I mean is that I’m celebrating my dad. NOT his age. To me it’s like a bonus to father’s day. An exrtra celebration. I prefer father’s day coz it doesn’t have an age to it. I never like the thought of my parents growing older. So basically after their 55th birthday I stopped remembering their age.

I went to buy the cake and due to the haze, durians and hot season, I decided to get the Black Forest Cake from
Secret recipe. I had to wait for them to decorate the cake as it was all white. And it seems to me that they have not enough chocolate flakes. Look and see for yourself. If I’m right, Black Forest cake is not suppose to look like that. When they got the cake ready in 20 mins, they asked me how many candles. And since I stopped counting my parents’ age, I was like…oops…   -___-

Then I started to count…er…1946…er…er…*thinking to myself, I remembered learning in math class, when you count years, you must minus the older from the current and plus one or something like that*

”WAIT” I told the lady.

*ran to the car where Damian was waiting for me*

Asked Damian to count for me and I kept saying must add one right? Must add one RIGHT? When actually I could have just count my own age and compare –___-

SWEATS. So much for counting. I still don’t remember the additional one is for what. So much for math class. –_____-

Oh, you must be wondering why I said it’s a special occasion for ME. It’s because I’m not sure if it’s the same for dad. haha! Apparently he told my bro that you can’t celebrate coz God can hear and might decide he wants to take you earlier to heaven. haha!

We had dinner at this place in Setapak with famous ‘Chi Pao Kai’ (Translate: Paper Wrap Chicken) Basically it’s chicken wrapped in paper and deep fried. It looks like that:

REally tasty! The chicken is tender and the sauce is…mmm…

It looked so good that we had to start eating before Kang arrives. Oh, actually we finished before he arrived. :p

I don’t really fancy chicken and I like it. So to those of you chicken lovers, this is the place to go for ‘Chi Pao Kai’.

Finally Kang arrives and we ordered food. The first dish came, I reminded sis to take picture:

This is the ‘Chu Kiok Chou’ (Translate: Pork Leg Vinegar) Yummay!

I don’t have a picture for the rest because we totally forgot about it. Busy eating –____-

Managed to get a picture of the last dish though. Coz it’s an extra. Kang and Bea was saying the pork ribs are nice:

And yes. It is super good as you can see below:

We were so SO full I didn’t know if we have space for cake. Oh I forgot to mention. Very reasonable pricing there too :)

TASTY + FULL = HAPPY PEOPLE

When we got home, Kang made his secret recipe punch. Lucky you that I got the picture of this secret recipe. Will blog about this in the next post :)

When all’s ready, time to cut the cake!

After some cakes…it’s DURIAN TIME! ngek ngek…so much for thinking I might not be able to eat the cake :p

Dad’s the man. I must marry some one who knows how to open durian :)

H1N1

Posted by dawn On August - 19 - 20092 COMMENTS

I’ve been sneezing so much today I feel like a machine. The other day in church, a doctor shared about H1N1 and the symptoms. Just wanna share with you that sneezing is NOT one of it. I didn’t know that fact until that day or else I’d be super freaked out now.

Anyway, some of the symptoms to look out for is fever; which most people already know, cough, shivers, muscle aches, joint aches and slight sore throat. Also, interestingly the common cold hits you gradually whereas H1N1 hits you without warning. So if you are alright in the morning and you fall ill suddenly in the evening, it’s time to go to the doctor.

OK time to go read my book and take a rest. Take care all!

Oh by the way, Serge wrote this on facebook which I think is real funny:

"200 people get swine flu & the world wants to wear masks. 20,000,000 ppl hv AIDS, still no one wants to wear a condom. HAHAHHA"–unquote

Black vs White

I just came back from dinner with Damian at Papa Rich, another Old Town concept. The renovation  and environment is very much nicer though. Very relaxing and cooling not too noisy with loud music like Old Town. I like it. Pretty good place to hang out and chat.

We were quite full from lunch so we just ordered a few dishes. We tried Asam Laksa, Tau fu far (bean curd dessert), White Coffee and Steamed bread with butter and kaya. Asam Laksa was alright with quite a generous amount of fish, I’ve tasted better though. The Tau fu far though was a bit on the pricey side, it’s RM 4.50 was good as the sugar provided is very nice. But normally I can have 3 bowls from the uncle near my house with that price :) . White coffee was a pleasant surprise, creamy and thick like how we like it. I couldn’t decide whether I should try their steamed or toasted bread and finally went for the steamed bread coz I can toast myself but to steam would be more time consuming :p

Great place to hang out and have a chat. Will definitely go back again but probably not for main meals :) As we were heading home, I told Damian I wonder why black clothing, those with a bit of lycra or elastic, last longer than the whites. And I came home, instantly try to google for an answer but received none. So I was just wondering. Do you notice? Or does it just happen to my clothing? Why does my black blouse last longer than the white? Damian ask if it’s coz I wear less of the black. But no. From blouse to pants to underwear. WHY? Someone please enlighten me. haha!

Having a blog is so cool. There are no rules. I can write from bread to underwear and nobody’s gonna stop me. haha! :p And someone I know writes about and SHOWS his ass. OK, remember to tell me if it’s just my clothing or it’s the same with you all…=)
